Don’t fall victim to fraudulent phone calls We’re reminding residents to ‘take five’ to ensure they don’t fall victim to a fraudulent attack by phone, text, email or online during the current coronavirus outbreak. In particular, there have been reports of potential scammers sharing misinformation about the government’s recent Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) announcement (details above). Allegedly, these individuals have been aggressively pressuring business owners into considering loans, falsely stating that many businesses will not be eligible for the CBILS. As such, we encourage everyone to share the very important messages of the Take Five Week message from Nottinghamshire Police, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue and Nottinghamshire local councils. Always question anyone who contacts you to ask for your personal or financial information. Even if an individual says they are the bank or other trusted organisation, you still need to take the time to stop and think about what’s really going on. Always take a step back to take the five minutes and follow these key steps to avoid falling victim to fraud.
